Montana Authors
by James Todd

July 24 through August 23, 2003

James Todd is one of Montana’s most important and active printmakers. Among his many wonderful print suites, none is perhaps more compelling and beautiful than his Montana Authors.

Consisting of 15 exquisite wood engravings and the leather-bound portfolio created to house the print suite, Montana Authors includes a broad range of portraits of writers who have been a lasting influence on Montana history including Flathead Chief Charlo, Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, Charles M. Russell and John James Audubon, as well as modernist and contemporary writers such as Richard Hugo and Ivan Doig.
