Stone Poems

“A sculpture is not complete until it has been viewed,” says artist Frances Dillon Foley from her studio in Somers, Montana.  When speaking about her work, she compares it to poetry or music. Foley chooses natural materials of stone, marble, and wood to create her original works of art. 

The final shape is non-objective, she explains, but it shows the viewer an interesting mix of shapes and forms that are at once fluid, sensuous, timeless, meditative, and tactile.  “They are meant to be a thing of beauty and to be enjoyed,” she says. “But to be complete, these Stone Poems need an audience.”
