Can You See Me Now?
Works by Jane Latus Conner
 October 7 though December 18, 2004

Mom and Babe, by Jane Latus Conner
Mom and Babe -- Watercolor

In conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month

...after my sister was murdered at the hands of a violent boyfriend. One evening, watching a beautiful sunset after Amy's death, I was crying and in too much pain to pray. I simply cried out, "God, she died so violently, I somehow need to know she's OK." And just like when I was a child, I began to notice shapes in the clouds. Instead of giraffes and rabbits, I saw womanly shapes…angelic figures floating, leaping and dancing... I will always miss my sister, but as I paint, I feel her watching me, encouraging me to move forward, heal, and help others.

Can You See Me Now? is an exhibition highlighting the work of Flathead Valley artist Jane Latus Conner. Through her work, Jane has found a therapeutic way to deal with the death of her sister. Her watercolors convey a message to the viewer but it only becomes clear when the viewer asks why.
