Allegorical Scenes
by Shelle Lindholm

 October 21 though December 18, 2004

Shelle Lindholm has been painting for the Flathead Valley for 25 years. Her style has developed over the years through her work as a decorative painter and folk artist. Her works in this exhibit depict allegorical scenes from the Christmas story in a bright and colorful folk style reminiscent of illuminated manuscripts.
The project began 12 years ago as a book.
Recently Lindholm dug up the drawings and began reformatting them into living color with acrylic, ink and colored pencil.
The results are humorous, witty, and sincerely beautiful -- rewarding the patient viewer who lingers with every picture.
Shelle hopes her series will brighten up the holiday season. Scenes feature the story of the birth of Jesus, including images of angels rejoicing and shepherds gathering.
